The inks

Here's the inks for that panel. I'm trying to use a nice range of tools to give a variety of marks, as that's something I've always liked in other artist's work. Mainly it's calligraphy pen, brush pen and pigment liner. I'm also avoiding using a ruler to ink the straight lines, to give them a more organic look.

I still wouldn't be able to tell those lines weren't done with a ruler. Lovely inks man. Nice panel too.

I just can't help being so straight.

Nice inks man. Gotta say though, with the light-source being what I can only assume is either the sun or street-lights(ie not directly in line with the girl's head), there's no way the her noggin could be completely in silhouette. The only way that could happen is if the light source were at ground level, which it isn't. The chick should have at least a healthy rim-light along the top of her head/pony-tail and back, and while I'm at it the underside of the canopy should be dark too. I realise you're trying to streamline elements of your style and jettison any superfluous elements, but does that mean ignoring the goddamn laws of physics, huh?! Ye canny change the laws of physics!

Oh yeah, it's completely non literal. I just wanted to have silhouetted characters against a light background for graphic clarity. Fie I say to the laws of physics! A pox on them!

Well alright then. All over-pickyness aside, its a great panel. Very noir.
